Choose your next step

Choose a weapon by its costs and conditions

Use your displayed Speed and the move you will actually use. The removed positive weapon Speed bonuses do not establish that all weapon penalties disappeared.

A low-cost basic attack

Earthquaker Cestus lists Punch at 0 Energy, but Ragequake costs 7 Energy and has a five-turn cooldown. Its card lists a Dust drop route.

A free basic attack does not make the whole weapon free to use. Dust's September 10 checked WIP card labels one Cestus at 100%; that is not a live-tested guarantee or a universally best damage result.

Check Dust's published drop record →

Keep an extra turn or a casting option

Check whether your current Speed actually reaches 2, 3.5, 5.5 or 8. Read handedness and casting restrictions alongside your planned loadout.

Do not add a removed weapon bonus or round 1.95 up to 2. The Staff documentation conflict remains unresolved; Bow's documented exception does not apply to all weapons.

Choose a weapon for its job

Dagger, Rapier, Cestus or Bow?

Compare the action you can afford, its conditions and how the card says to obtain the weapon. These are four useful choices to inspect, not a complete weapon list or a tested damage ranking.

Action costs

Stab: 2 Energy. Assault: 6 Energy, 3-turn cooldown.

Starter weapon, one-handed. Stab applies Bleed +1, or Vulnerable +1 if the target cannot bleed. Assault applies Vulnerable +1 per hit, changing to Bleed on Critical.

The card does not give an exact Assault hit count or a verified total-damage comparison.

Action costs

Puncture: 2 Energy. Needle Flurry: 6 Energy, 2-turn cooldown.

Starter weapon, one-handed. Puncture adds Bleed +2 on Critical. Three dodges trigger Duelist Dance +1.

A shorter follow-up cooldown does not prove higher DPS; the dodge passive is conditional.

Action costs

Punch: 0 Energy. Ragequake: 7 Energy, 5-turn cooldown.

One-handed; the card lists a Dust drop route. Ragequake grants Rage +4 and adds Exposed +2 on Critical.

The free basic attack does not remove the follow-up cost. Dust's drop card, checked September 10, labels quantity 1 at 100%; this is WIP documentation, not a live-tested guarantee.

Action costs

Shoot Arrow: 2 Energy.

Starter weapon, two-handed, with an explicit spellcasting exception. Critical adds Bleed +1 and Exposed +2.

That casting exception belongs to Bow; it is not permission to cast with every two-handed weapon.

For Dagger versus Rapier, both basic attacks cost 2 Energy and both listed follow-ups cost 6. The follow-up cooldown is 3 turns for Dagger and 2 for Rapier; their Critical conditions differ. Those facts alone do not establish a best weapon.

Question and evidence dateWhat the source establishesLimits and next step
Cleave, Serrated Blade, Jagged Uppercut and Needle Barrage changed

Official changelog · 2026-09-10 UTC

The September 10 named-move changes are Cleave base damage 14 → 15, Serrated Blade innate PEN +1, Jagged Uppercut base damage per hit 5 → 6, and Rapier Needle Barrage damage per hit 3 → 2.75. These affect move comparisons, not the listed resource cost of every weapon.

Matching identically named moves to cards is a cross-reference, not a weapon-by-weapon test. Rapier's card instead says Needle Flurry; no verified rename or total hit count is inferred from Needle Barrage. Serrated Blade gains PEN, not a stated extra damage point. Base values are not final damage against a resistant enemy.

September 10: Greataxe QTE made slightly easier

Official changelog · 2026-09-10 UTC

Racco's September 10 changelog says Greataxe's QTE was made slightly easier. The official weapon FAQ, reread for this review, still instructs you to press A or D on the side without branches, climb to the top, then press A or D to finish. It describes a faster completion for Critical. Try the current timing again if an older run or guide put you off this weapon.

The announcement gives no exact time limit, input-window increase or success-rate change. It does not announce a damage buff, a new input sequence or easier QTEs for every axe. The WIP Greataxe card still lists Speed −0.70, Cleave at 4 Energy and Sharp Sweep at 6 Energy with a 3-turn cooldown. No in-game timing measurement was performed.

Dagger Frenzy: seven landed weapon hits, then a conditional bonus

Official changelog · 2026-09-08 UTC

Racco's September 8 announcement adds Frenzy to Dagger. Landing seven hits with the weapon grants Frenzy +1; weapon hits through skills or Counter can count. The announced effect gives +0.5 Speed and +1 PEN. The September 13 Trello check now finds Frenzy on the Dagger card and a separate status card listing the same bonuses. This is documentation catching up, not a second new passive.

Seven hits does not mean seven turns or seven button presses. The statement does not publish a stack ceiling, duration, reset rule or the exact hit count of Assault. Do not claim one Assault guarantees Frenzy, that all dagger-named off-hands gain it, or that the effect restores permanent base weapon Speed. Use your displayed Speed in the existing tool; no live stacking test was performed.

Narcissist and Perfectionist: the damage bonus is weapons-only

Official changelog · 2026-09-08 UTC

The September 8 official changelog restricts this Book's damage buff to weapons. Do not count it as a general spell-damage multiplier. The September 9 WIP card now agrees: each Perfection stack gives +5% weapon-attack damage, up to three stacks, with +1 Stamina regeneration while the effect is active—not +1 regeneration per stack.

The card, rather than this short announcement, describes losing all stacks after taking a hit or failing to land a Critical, plus +10% damage taken per stack on getting hit. These are documented risks, not a tested final-damage formula. Unwritten unlock: three consecutive Critical QTEs; writing costs 150 Ink Shards and signing costs 75 Ink; the written Book unlocks on spawn.

Execution Blow: base damage increased to 22.5

Official changelog · 2026-09-10 UTC

The newer September 10 changelog raises Execution Blow base damage to 22.5, superseding September 8's 21.5 reduction from 24. Greatsword and Gruesome both list an attack with that name. Their WIP attack descriptions give 7 Energy, a four-turn cooldown and Bleed +2 on Critical; those separate fields were not changed by this announcement.

The official post names the move, not a weapon-by-weapon test. Matching the named move to these two cards is a cross-reference. The card says it hits harder as the target approaches death, but neither source gives the missing-health scaling formula. Keep 22.5 as base damage, not guaranteed damage, a Critical result or an instant-kill threshold.

Weapon Speed bonuses removed: recheck your extra-turn threshold

Official changelog · 2026-09-06 UTC

The September 6 changelog removes weapon Speed gains and names Rapier, Dagger and Earthquaker Cestus as examples. Their current Trello cards, and Damned Claws, no longer list the old positive Speed line. Recheck your displayed Speed before relying on an extra turn; the official FAQ lists thresholds of 2, 3.5, 5.5 and 8.

Removal of positive weapon bonuses does not establish that negative Speed penalties vanished. Rapier's conditional Duelist Dance is a separate status: its current WIP card lists +0.4 Speed. Neither its stack cap nor duration is supplied there, so do not treat it as an always-on weapon bonus or promise a stack-based extra-turn loop.

Check extra turns using your displayed Speed →

True Strength: Cestus boss damage is +15%, not +40%

Official changelog · 2026-09-06 UTC

The September 6 changelog sets True Strength's boss-damage bonus with Cestus to +15%. The current Book card agrees and still lists +40% for Punch otherwise. Its unwritten requirements are defeating a boss with Punch and punching bosses ten times; both require having a single arm. Writing costs 200 Ink Shards and signing costs 100 Ink; the written Book unlocks on spawn.

The single-arm condition is a published unlock requirement, not advice to lose an arm. The bonus does not establish a final damage result after resistance, nor prove Cestus is the best boss weapon.

Elemental weapon damage now forms part of the original hit

Official changelog · 2026-09-05 UTC · edited 2026-09-06

The changelog says weapons with elemental damage increases now deal that element as a portion of their original damage. It gives 90% original damage plus 10% Earth as an example, says the elemental portion raises its affinity and triggers related effects, and separately says affinity damage now scales correctly with bonuses such as Earth or Fire damage.

The 90/10 split is an example, not a universal ratio for every weapon. No complete conversion or post-defense formula is published, so the stat tool does not invent a final damage calculator. Existing affinity caps still apply; gaining an unwanted affinity can affect a planned build.

Choose a weapon by its action, cost and restrictions

The September 6 weapon Speed correction is explained above. These current public-card comparisons cover what to do with each weapon, not a tested damage ranking. Open the linked record for its existing game image and complete details.

Baseline public Trello WIP checked 2026-09-13T01:38:18.558Z; later checks are dated per answer. Relevant official clarifications appear above. First collected or corrected details are not necessarily a new live update.

Player questionPublished answerRisk and next step
What does Grim's revised Speed penalty change in my plan?

WIP checked 2026-09-13T01:34:32.154Z

Grim now lists Speed −0.65 instead of −0.55: an additional 0.10 penalty on the card. It retains Void Damage +15%, PEN +1, Lifesteal +5% and Two-Handed. Its obtainment names Carcass. Cleave costs 4 Energy; Sharp Sweep costs 6 Energy with a 3-turn cooldown; Consume Life costs 8 Mana with a 3-turn cooldown.

The separate Cleave announcement gives a base damage of 15, not a total against every enemy. Use the character's displayed Speed after equipping Grim; do not assume an extra turn survives this penalty or that lifesteal compensates for Carcass's Bleed risks.

Check whether your displayed Speed still reaches an extra-turn threshold →
Rapier or Dagger after the Speed change?

Both are listed as one-handed starter weapons with PEN +1 and no positive Speed line. Rapier's Puncture costs 2 Energy and applies Bleed +2 on Critical; Needle Flurry costs 6 Energy with a 2-turn cooldown. After three dodges, its passive grants Duelist Dance +1.

Duelist Dance is conditional, not starting Speed. The status card now lists +0.4 Speed without a duration or stack ceiling; no guaranteed extra turn follows from equipping Rapier.

Check Rapier's conditional Speed effect →
Why does Dagger Assault change my debuff?

Stab costs 2 Energy and lists Bleed or Vulnerable +1, using Vulnerable when the target cannot bleed. Assault costs 6 Energy with a 3-turn cooldown: normal hits apply Vulnerable +1 per hit; Critical instead applies Bleed +1 per hit.

The card does not promise that both statuses apply on the same Assault hit. Check target immunities before relying on Bleed; cooldowns follow the side-switch rule, not repeated personal turns.

Review defensive responses and the cooldown rule →
Where does Earthquaker Cestus come from?

WIP checked 2026-09-10T01:32:37.446Z

Its weapon card names Dust as the drop source; Dust's updated WIP drop section lists quantity 1 at 100%. Punch costs 0 Energy; Ragequake costs 7 Energy with a 5-turn cooldown, deals small area damage and grants Rage +4. Critical inflicts Exposed +2. Current stats retain Defense +1, Earth damage +25%, PEN +1 and 15% Block Reduction.

The 100% label is source documentation, not a live-tested guarantee or an encounter rate. No exact area-damage value is published. Its removed base Speed bonus and the separate True Strength Cestus exception still matter.

Prepare for Dust before farming the Cestus →
Wand versus Staff for more rune slots

Wand lists Max Mana +4 and Max Runes +1. Staff lists Max Mana +8, Max Runes +3, Speed −0.60 and Two-Handed. These are equipment bonuses, not learned spells or an exemption from Book requirements.

The official FAQ broadly restricts casting when the left hand is unavailable, while also recommending staff/wand for rune slots and publishing Staff casting QTEs. This wording conflict is preserved; do not infer a universal rule from the Two-Handed label alone.

Separate spell learning, hand availability and rune capacity →
Can Bow cast, and what does Spear's Hoplite do?

Bow explicitly allows casting despite being Two-Handed; Shoot Arrow costs 2 Energy and Critical applies Bleed +1 and Exposed +2. Spear's Hoplite lists cost 0 and applies Counter +3 and Fortified +3; Spear also lists Speed −0.50.

Bow's exception is specific to its card. Hoplite does not prove that Counter activates on distant attacks or bypasses the three-stack ceiling. Negative Speed penalties are not removed by the positive-bonus changelog.

Practise Bow targets or Spear gap timing →
Does weapon Speed removal also remove Wind Infused?

WIP checked 2026-09-09T01:32:55.199Z

The retained official note removes positive weapon Speed gains. Separately, the open Wind Infused status card still lists +0.4 Speed and Wind-type weapon damage. Arts of Infusion grants the four casting options; their spell cards apply a matching effect to one party member.

A temporary status is not a weapon's base-stat line. This review has no new Discord confirmation of a status change, and Wind Infusion links an archived duplicate. Check displayed Speed rather than inventing an additive build total or guaranteed extra turn.

Check an extra-turn threshold using your displayed Speed →
Can Bone Claws still provide its old +0.1 base Speed?

WIP checked 2026-09-10T01:32:37.446Z

The current Bone Claws card no longer has the +0.1 Speed line. It retains PEN +1 and One-Handed. This is consistent with the retained official removal of positive weapon Speed gains; it is not a separate new patch announcement.

Do not carry the removed base bonus into a build total. Dagger's newly announced Frenzy and Rapier's Duelist Dance are conditional effects, not evidence that Bone Claws regained permanent Speed. Unknown Critical effects on the Claws card remain unknown.
